Default 18's on my 2005 Lexus LS430

I saw on Discount Tire that the standard tire for the 2005 Lexus LS430 is 225/55-17.

I guess the previous owner put 18" rims and tires on the car.

Personally I don't like upgrading sizes as i believe it affects the ride comfort.

Anyone experience a change in road noise upgrading their tire size?

Yours may be the Sport model, which came with 18's.

I've attached two ads for the car before I bought it.

I didn't see any sports package but I could have missed it.

It does say that the timing belt was done which is nice but I haven't seen this on the Mylexusdriver website yet.

Hard to tell from the pix, but on mine, the SPORT badge is on each front fender, just rearward of the front wheels.

The picture I have doesn't show it but as soon as my wife gets back from her trip I will double check it.

Default tires

Is the tire size 245 45 18 if so standard for sport. The thing i don,t like is the spare is 17in tire
Wheels look like standard Lexus rims. If so i doubt someone paid over $400. dollars each to up grade to 18in

Yes. The tires do say 245 / 45R18. But there is no emblem that says sports edition and I have no other information to verify.

The car doesn't have to have the sport suspension to have the 18s. Most 2005s came with the 18s, and nearly all 2006s did.

The car will ride significantly better on the 17s...

That's what I thought. And tire replacements will be cheaper.

You'd be surprised, I don't think there's a huge difference in cost.

The car does look better on the 18s, but I'd want the 17s on it.

I wouldn't have paid the money to upgrade to the 18's either. Personally I think bigger rims make cars look like clown cars.

Weird that the ad you shared lists the tires/wheels as 17s but the car came with 18s????

If you really dislike the 18s, take the car and the ad back to the dealership and have them explain the discrepancy. It is not unusual in the used car inventory for "swaps" to occur among cars to make a sale....

Our car is older (an '01) and the stock wheels were 16 with an upgrade to 17s (which we have).

Oh, and being 96W rated seems a bit extreme for a passenger tire......

I have never seen a 2005 LS with 17's so I believe this is a simple misprint that is all. 05 rims with marginal tires maybe 400-600 better tires maybe 150 bucks more give or take. I picked up 5 chromes for 700 no tires.

I have 20's and 18's for my touareg do not notice a huge difference either way prefer 20's. Driven LS's with 17's and 18's prefer the lower profile 18's myself but very minor difference to me.
