LS430Lexus

The Nav screen on my '02UL w/ 144k reads error and says to check the disk. The map shows for a few seconds and then I get the error message. The disk could be bad and in need of replacement (v. 10.1). Question is whether the disk player is bad and needs replacement. I may try removing the disk and washing it (works for CD's and DVD's). Has anyone else seen this issue? I am open to suggestions. Thank you.
