gs430 srt intake/chip for ls430
Was just wondering if the srt intake and chip would work for a 01 ls430?? Any input would be great. I've searched the threads and haven't seen anything related to it.

No, it may fit but you will not see any gains from doing this. The stock intake design is excellent and efficient. If anything, you will loose low end torque if you change the stock intake.
The "chips" available for our LS's only trick the car to believe you are pushing the gas pedal further then you actually are. In other words, no gains in torque or horse power.
The only mod that gives you any noticeable gains is headers. They are made by PPE Engineering and are expensive. If you cannot tune the ECU intakes are pretty pointless and often have a negative effect. Save your money for the headers if you want about 20 HP and torque.

Thank you for the prompt answer. I absolutely love the website!!! I did invest in the obx shorty headers. Are they any good?? I should be receiving them sometime next week. I have an 01 ls430 ul with 188000 miles. Was actually thinking about selling before the new England winter comes for maybe a legacy gt, wrx, or a g35x. But I love this car.

I am fairly new to the snow-belt but many people review that the LS does quite well in the snow with snow tires. I found a set with wheels on Ebay for a great deal. In Atlanta, where I lived before, even with my all season Michelins my 04 did great in the snow and ice we got last winter.
As far as the WRX goes, it's a blast to drive. I don't plan on driving it much in the snow to keep rust and salt corrosion to a minimum. I may change my mind in the winter but I don't want to invest in another set of wheel for the WRX at this point. They come with summer tires which, are not known to be great in the snow. I'm glad I did not sell or trade in my LS though.
I don't have any knowledge of the obx shorty headers. The PPE's actually have dyno charts that show the gains.

The reason I think it's BS is because there is absolutely no consistency in showing gains. Your dyno shows, as mentioned before loss of torque and horsepower in the low rpm's and little gain of a little in the high. Does this actually help 0-60 times? I seriously doubt it. If it really did there would be plenty of people saying so. Believe me I would be all over it as I have tuned previous cars with intakes and headers.
Also, the ecu constantly adjust timing based on inputs from many sensors. So those using piggyback systems to try to trick the computer find it stops working soon after installation. There is just so little evidence that they help one cannot but believe they don't when looking at the whole picture. Too bad the ecu has not been cracked. Tuning the WRX get you 40 hp and tq. I'm still convinced headers are the only worthwhile bolt-on for the 430.

I see gains from 3200RPM in HP & TQ up to redline. Below 2800RPM is the main loss. I'd like to see what happens below that... Maybe it's due to removing to 5 or 6 resonators/helmholtz chambers built into the factory system?? 0-60 no, maybe the 1/4 mile tho...
As for OPs question its looks like any aftermarket intake from Weapon R, Fujita, or Injen has 3 imputs for vacuum lines. I don't think anyone has confirmed if it has worked... Let us know how those OBX headers work.
