Engine stumbling for bit after sitting for 5 days
#16
Really appreciate the offer LSGarry! I'm in the Bothell area. A bit of a drive I am going to be on Whidbey Island this weekend. But I'm guessing that too is probably too far. I don't know the islands all the well admittedly. Is it somewhat close?
StanVanDam,
I'm taking a resistance measurement right now. Trying to emulate the 68 degree condition. I'm coming up very close to the 2.21 figure. It's very slowly creeping up as presumably the MAF continues to cool.
So my question is, if I'm just barely making it into the acceptable resistance range at that temp, is that a sign that this MAF is on its way out? Or does this sound like normal behavior. The room I'm in is currently 67 degrees. The MAF has been sitting in this room for about 20 min. Feels cool to the touch. I'm guessing the MAF is basically at the 68 degree condition this test calls for.

Bothell is closer to the Edmonds - Kingston ferry. I'm also close to Bainbridge Island across from Seattle.
Would love to help out with your MAF if you are in the area and who knows, maybe we could start an LS club for WA. There are quite a few over here.

I finally got a chance to swap the MAF sensor with the one from Ebay last night. I also pulled the negative for the ECU to reset. Today, I get the Check Engine and VSC lights. Arghh!!
LSGarry, did you have any issues with the one you bought? I'm wondering if I need to get it exchanged.

lsdude, once I replaced old with new, no more shaking or delays and no codes were thrown. I ordered the new one from Amazon and thought it was OEM but it was not. This is the one I ordered.

It is 95% better than the old one but I wonder if the actual OEM would be 100%. I may swap them again and see.

The Ebay seller exchanged it for another one. I finally have the "buttery smooth" shifting everyone's talking about. And yes, I tried cleaning the MAF sensor several times before buying a new one. Thanks for everyone's help!

Do not buy from this Ebay seller! The second one I purchased from him lasted almost 2 months. After a long road trip, Check Engine/VSC lights came on. I suspect this guy is selling used units as new. I just purchased a brand new Denso one from Amazon and the car rides much smoother than when I purchased the car 2 years ago. Plus my MPG has gone up. Plus there is a one year warranty on it. Fingers crossed this will last at least a year.
