Think It Is Totaled?

I'm guessing yes. I'm coming to this forum from the Toyota forums due to wrecking my Camry. Hit a road sign going about 40 mph and messed up the passenger side. I was floored when they said it was totaled. Glad everyone was OK.

2004 LS430 with UL package. 105,000 miles.
My wife is fine. The young man that hit her was driving a Toyota 4Runner and his left front is worse.
He was distracted and just didn't notice my wife stopping ahead to turn left. He looked up, swerved to miss, but was too late. His vehicle was disabled. We drove the Lexus a block home. The muffler is dragging.
Noticed the map says "No DVD" so that definitely got damaged.
I really don't feel like negotiating with an adjuster and looking for another car.....

Gonna be close that's for sure. Hope they can save it. I have an 03 same color as yours. I'd be pissed! Damn distracted drivers.
Let us know what the decision is.

That is very bad news, glad your wife appears OK. Please tell her to monitor herself for any unusual health issues especial aches/pain in jaw, neck or shoulders. Soreness and related symptoms of a real injury can show up several days later.
Car might be totaled but damage may be just short of total. If multiple body panels and/or trunk floor get crumpled it can be big $ to make it right.

My Cypress LS was totaled two years ago in a similar accident because she hit me so hard that the roof had buckled around the moonroof and this pushed it over the edge dollar wise. Thankfully your wife is OK and if it is totaled there is always another well cared for LS out there waiting for a new home. Either way though a traumatic experience that could have been much worse.

So what is my number? 2004 430LS UL with 105,000 miles..... Car is in darn good factory shape as my 110 pound wife has driven it back and forth to work for the last six years.
I just want to get what is really fair. Why should we be out thousands on an accident not our responsibility. Aren't I entitled to full replacement value PLUS taxes, state tabs, etc?
Looking around my area this car seems to go for $15kish plus....
This will be interesting. Stay tuned.

If your car is claimed as a total loss, you'll get market value of the vehicle (considering where you live). If you have any aftermarket items, be sure you are able to show proof (receipts of parts and labor). I just got rear ended in my 03 gs300 sport design. Its a pain calling your insurance company and the other party's. Good luck. Time for an LS460.
I didn't get what i thought was fair because I put in $2k worth of parts like the timing belt, waterpump, all door lock actuators, etc. The guy's insurance company said that since it was all maintenance repairs, they don't really account for much since I would have eventually had to do it. I only had the car for 4 months. That's what I thought was BS.

--------^. That sucks, man.
However, you can usually negotiate with an adjuster. I've seen threads on this forum where another member wiggled an extra grand or so from the other party's insurance.
Glad OPs wife is ok.

Sorry to hear about the accident. My 04 was backed into in a parking lot less then a week after I purchased it. With maybe 1/4 the amount of damage yours had it ended up being $7,000 for a bumper, some supporting, a tail light, some sensors, and paint. I believe yours will be totaled.
$15,000 - $16,000 is what I would be looking for in replacement value.
