I can't even hear these things inside the LS460 when its idling.

Absurd or not, that's what I heard. I'm not making it up just for kicks. My window was down and like I said, the car passed by me slowly 2 lanes over. I probably wouldn't have noticed it were I not checking out the car, but I definitely heard it. I wasn't inferring it was some Chevy 3500 Duramax, but it was noticeable.

If anyone knows one let me know.
Yeah that southern hospitality and outgoing nature of strangers you see in the south is very absent in NJ lol. Glad to hear it's going well.

I'll ask my brother in law about a shop referral, I think they have one they use.

Bob04 (hope he sees this) hated how loud the 4.6 was, that it clattered and ticked. Well, I was in Beverly Hills the other day and a 460 passed by me (slowly), and I heard it, from 2 lanes away!! tick tick tick tick......
You would have definitely been able to hear mine from that distance. Absurdly loud. The issue seems to be worse on some cars than others. Strange thing is I knew about it before and checked before I purchased. Didn't start ticking until a few months of ownership, and got worse really quick.

Absolutely love my 430. Not one single regret going back.

This is true of a lot of the early DI Lexus engines, I've read that on other model forums as well.

My 460 isn't bad at all, but then the engine has been out a long time at this point.

The Toyota/Lexus 2GR-FE (V-6) engine also sounds like a diesel, especially when engine is cold.

Neither of my LS430's burn oil. One has 245,000 miles and the other has 116,000 miles.

However my SC300 burns oil. I've got a few seals that are leaking and it burns a little bit of oil.

yes indeed, my 08 Sienna has this issue exactly. Doesn't bother me a bit though, and doesn't burn any oil either. Apparently the piston design is such that you get slight slap when cold, and the clearances close when fully warmed up.
