2k for timing belt/water pump replacement?!
This highly rated shop in my area just quoted me $2,000 for a timing belt/water pump replacement. Am I crazy or does that seem like an insane amount? I have yet to call the Lexus or Toyota dealership and ask what they would charge me. But after this quote I just might do that.. If anyone else had this done, how much did you pay? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

Just paid $1056 to my local Lexus Dealer this past week (7-28-15), water pump, timing belt, and the accessory drive belt. All parts were Lexus/Toyota. Gave a 10 percent discount on parts and labor.
Got a wash and vacuum too.
Did it in one day and gave me a loner for the day.

I'd check how much they charge for an equivalent job on a Camry. The difference is basically how much they are ripping you off because you brought in a high-end Lexus.
If the Camry service is high too, maybe they are just an expensive place.

I would hope a $2000 estimate is a full 90k service as well as the timing belt.

UPDATE: A friend of mine (very trustworthy mechanic) said he could buy the parts and install it for me, as payment he requires copious amounts of beer LOL. He said the parts would be "Aisin OEM spec," I am not too familiar with this brand, anyone ever used it before? I was thinking of just buying the TB/WP from Lexus but it would probably cost a bit more than what Aisin would be ($320). Let me know if you guys have any experience with "Aisin" parts. Thanks for the replies so far

Here is the OEM kit. Aisin is OEM. Lexus is just doubling their money.

They might have included a spark plug change for that price, pretty high?

Question: do I need to replace the camshaft seals/thermostat along with the TB/WP? My friend is installing the kit, so I am wondering if I should do those as well, he said it is difficult to replace the camshaft seals, that's probably why the shop quoted me so much.
