Default emission problem

In the hunt for a good ls430 I came across a well maintained 2002 with 125k miles. It has two issues:
An evaporation canister at the rear is malfunction (does not pass em.test)
A wheel speed sensor
What kind of $ am I looking to to repair these items ?

Depends, purchase the parts and pay for labor only and it won't be too expensive.

Canister:
About $330

Wheels speed sensor I believe is around $130 for the part.

Default emission

how does the car react when the evaporator fails?
high consumption? sputtering? hard start?
Or just fail the e test?

Could this just be a faulty gas cap? How do you know when the evaporator fails?

the mechanic said the dealership went thru an extensive pre-sale check up and reported a failed evaporator canister.
I am not a mechanic and have no clue. What is important to me at the moment is what the car will actually cost me and if additional repairs justify the price.
More important: if the car would not pass emission I could not bring it across the border

I heard the repair of the evap issue sucks. I have the same thing but here in FL we don't have those emissions regs so I don't have to get it fixed. Apparently the gas tank need to get to the canister.
