Default 02 LS dome lights & multi-info display on dash not working

Fuse # 25(10 AMP) for the dome on the passenger side box was blown, but when i went to replace with another 10 amp fuse it sparKed and immediately blew again. I made sure everything was off etc., and tried again, and same thing.....so obvious short. Any thoughts on where to look or start or what to do to find what is causing the fuses to blow??? Taking a 3 day trip out of town and it would be nice to have the mileage display on the dash, as well as the dome lights working. HELP APPRECIATED OR ANY TIPS!!! I am a newbie and new Lexus owner and excited to learn more these cars........Thanks

I had this when I put in LED courtesy lights. One was 'bad' so every time my son turned on his light - pop - fuse goes out with clock/multi display etc.

Maybe pop the dome lights and bulbs in back seat....?

Having the exact same problem. A few months ago, I replaced the fuse and it worked for a few months. Now the fuse blows right away.

Did you ever find out what caused this?

Did some poking around. It turns out it is a short in the sun visor (driver side). It creates a short when moving it around. My SOH uses it a lot.The wiring must have been worn/frayed.

Edit: there is a power connector at the base of the visor. I just unplugged it. Problem solved.

Just wanted to say thanks, I ended up having the same problem. And originally I thought that it was a problem with the multi-information display, until I noticed that the interior / dome lights were out as well. I also disconnected the sun visor - one other thing I noted was that it had recently become a lot more difficult to extend, so something inside the mechanism must have broken down, causing a short as well as more friction.

Just FYI for anyone searching for a solution.
