Rear camber adjustment
Is the rear camber on the 2001 LS430 adjustable? My recent rear readings after my last alignment are within specs but my passenger side rear tire is feathering on the inside. The readings for the last alignment are: Front Left Camber -0.5 Toe .06 Front Right Camber -0.3
Toe .05 Rear left Camber -1.7 Toe .18 Rear Right Camber -1.7 Toe 0.17
The range for the rear camber is -1.8 to -0.3 Can the rear camber be adjusted to be less negative? I assume not or the tech would have done so. Any help would be appreciated.

This has been covered many times. A search would have gotten you your answer. But the jist of it is that the rear arms that control camber are not themselves adjustable. The way you adjust rear camber is by replacing the arm with a different length unit. At least thats how the factory does it. If you want an adjustable arm you need to go out and buy an aftermarket piece like tHeKiNg911 has mentioned.

Thanks everyone for the info. Looks like I'll just be doing more regular rotations at every 5,000 miles to keep any tire wear in check.

Old thread but I remember people saying the rear lateral arm comes in 3 lengths, stock, then shorter, and longer by 5 mm. Mine's been -1.7 and -1.8 since I got the car, sure I'd rather have less, but it drives OK....don't see any strange wear. Not sure if there were any cases where shortening the arm brought the car back in.
edit believe it's the arm that's 2nd from the right

I have the shorter arms, but the actual fix is new springs like Striker said. It brought camber back into spec. Beck Arnley makes the shorter arms now, so it would cost half of the OEM arms I used.

edit wow $42 each. Any point in installing shorter arms, or springs only (they are $43)?

So labor to install the shorter arms will be much less than changing the springs. If you feel the car rides fine and no tire wear I wouldn't change anything. When you change the arms you will need an alignment afterwards. I already contacted the manufacturer of those springs and they are for the sport model, which has a slightly stiffer spring rate. They are a Swedish company and from what they told me is all non-air models in Europe had sport suspension. One thing I didn't like was the shorter arms put some tension against the toe arm adjustment making it harder to adjust toe in my opinion. If I were to do it again I would get replacement rear springs for standard suspension from Coil Spring Specialties in Kansas for $275. Which is much cheaper than OEM springs from an online dealer.

I just looked here for OE....man everything is super expensive....I'm using Bilstein B6 (just used these in my wife's car front/rear) as a barometer, that's a step up from typical OE which is B4....the factory rear strut is $224 discount. That's about double a B6! Springs are $135 and $150, also not cheap....
Was figuring eventually need new shocks/struts all around, and typically every piece is replaced except the spring.....

My 2 cents: I have owned 2 430's, took both to different dealers for full alignment, and both cars were out of camber in the rear, but not bad. Both service advisors told me not to worry about it; they said it's expensive and most cars on the road are out of camber in the rear. Out of camber for most is when we see that slight tilt out at the bottom of the rear tires. That is called negative camber. Those guys were right, I see cars 4 yrs old around with the rear out of camber. I would say unless your numbers are really bad in the back, let it go. Mine just last month were -2.0 on the left, and -1.8 on the right, and he told me to walk away.
