At the Florida home, he has a 2002 Lexus convertible and a 2002 Lexus sedan. Back in Jersey, he keeps a 2008 Lexus all-wheel-drive sedan, and he just bought a used Volkswagen Passat. The used Passat has Bluetooth and it makes him "feel like a rich man" because his other three cars can't do that.

Ritholtz pointed out that he could just replace those cars.

"I don't drive a lot, and I'm told that a 2002 Lexus LS430 was the best Lexus they made. I've got 80,000 miles on it. It drives like a new car. And I'd rather give the money to charity."

Somebody gave the billionaire bad info. I believe the 05-06 LS430 was the best Lexus ever built.

The former Boeing CEO stated that the 2004 LS430 was the best car in the world. This after going to Ford as their ECO.

Many ultra wealthy and successful people have owned LS430 and LS400...........Alan Mullaly, Bill Gate had a LS400.

All they care is quality and refinement, they don't need the status symbol of wealth from prestigious badges like Benz or Bentley. Actually they want the opposite, they want the badge to be understated. Everyone already know they are rich, they don't want any more attention.

Only poor people need status symbol because they need to make up what they don't have

I have great examples:

The billionaire owner of the company I work for, drive a 2008 VW Phaeton. Managers who work for him that have $100k~$200k salary, drive Benz S550 and BMW 750iL.

The company I work for, our CEO (now a VP, we got bought by a bigger fish...) drives a Audi Q7. He had a Infinity Q45 before the Q7. As much as he makes, he flaunts nothing.

I drove Serial #3 Protoype Phaeton (W12 car) here when were doing the hands free audio for it. Electronic throttle wasn't dialed in yet, but it was still very powerful. It would light up all 4 wheels....
