Basically just change your oil regularly with a good brand name synthetic and you will be fine. These engines are not particular like other cars.

Welp, let me put my $0.02 in here.

Back when I was a teenager, I would use nothing but Mobil-1 for all oil changes..ranging from my parents Chevrolet Malubu to their Cavalier to their Honda Accord to their Olds Cutlass Supreme. (my dad paid the bill at the auto parts place and I did the oil changes)

As I matured and bought my own cars and paid for my own maintenance, I'd buy ONLY Valvoline. Why? I thought their TV commercials were cool (and was much cheaper than Mobile-1). LOL.

Now? I use whatever oil is ON SALE!!!

Seriously, I just shake my head at the fanatics who use only the purple stuff or the synthetic stuff or the amsoil stuff, etc! Absolutely NO NEED for them! AT ALL, (unless you live in a climate where it's always below 30deg or so, there's NO NEED even for a synthetic! NONE. NO NEED. AT ALL!

On my LS, I change my oil every 3k miles or 3 months, whichever comes 1st. And, get this-----I'll buy Walmart branded oil. Yes, I'll buy Pep Boys branded oil. Yes, I'll buy 'Peak' branded oil. Whatever's on sale, and so long as it meets the quality/viscosity standards, why pretend that you're going to live to see ANY difference AT ALL????

Think about it. Have you, or anyone you know, EVER known of someone that had their engine die or seize or anything catastrophic happen because they used 'cheap' oil????? I don't know of any such instance. Heck, my best friend who has 2 thumbs and 2 left hands and changes his oil about EVERY OTHER YEAR in his 01' Altima with 165k miles doesn't even have a problem! Doesn't visibly burn oil, no blue smoke, etc!!! And my friend was CLUELESS when it came to automotive maintenance!!! Seriously guys, maybe 1x a year he'll get it changed.

So long as you get the proper viscosity oil and change the oil & filter at the recommended interval (or sooner), you'll be FINE WITH THE CHEAP STUFF, and you'll have about 80% more ca$h in your pocket!!!!

Save your $$$$. You'll never notice ANY difference, as I said, unless it's extremely cold outside. Then, and only then, might you be able to OBSERVE the benefits from a synthetic. MIGHT.

It cost you more though LS430InDE. Your not saving money. I spend $36 every 7500 miles for an oem filter and Mobile 1 EP. Takes me usually about 6 - 8 months to do that and I buy my oil at Walmart too.

You might be splitting hairs on this one Lav! I say every 3 months/3k miles, but it usually ends up 3 months and 2 weeks or 3,100 miles. lol

I'd personally prefer to change dino-oil more frequently than change synthetic less frequently. I usually can get 5qts+filter for around $19.

I hate having to spend time on having my oil changed. Consequently, I'll go with Mobil 1 for 5,000 miles. There is a difference with synthetic oil instead of dino-oil, decreased friction resulting in less wear. It was developed for gas turbine engines to provide long life. Good enough reason for me to go with synthetic oil every time. If I drove a junker I might think otherwise.

I was sold on Mobil 1 back in the 1990's. The fam had a really old Jeep Grand Wagoneer (with the wood-esque siding)...it was smoking oil. We changed it out to a heavy weight Mobil 1 and it completely stopped.

I hear you, and can visualize the 'wood-esque' panels, lol, but I'd hypothesize, better yet, guess, the smoking would have stopped with a heavy-weight conventional oil too.
