Default Axial Gap of the Radar Sensor - LS430 PCS Error

I just got a Silver LS430 UL, and I love the car. I was driving it home, and had the radar cruise on. Some snow started just before I got home, and it tripped the radar sensor. I didn't think to turn off the radar when the snow started falling. Now the red triangle on the dash is lit up, and it says "check PCS system". I took it to the dealer today, and they said the diagnosic read I had an "axial gap of the radar sensor". What does that mean? They didn't have anyone around to fix it, and I have to go in again in 5 days when someone would be there what knows about the pre-collision system. Does anyone here have any insight? If it's something that's not a big deal, I will rest easy. Hopefully it's something I can reset or fix myself. Let me know fi you can help! I look forward to being a part of the community.

Welcome! Once you post pics of your car, I will be able to tell you that the problem can be cured by resetting your flux capacitor. Oops, I let that slip out.

I have absolutely no idea how to fix your "axial gap of the radar sensor". Whatever it is, it sounds like Lexus-speak for "expensive".

I am scared it is. Due to how it came on, I hope it's not - but rather jsut something that needs to be reset. The ride is silver on black, and the only thing I think I am going to do is get the iPod integration, and MAYBE put 50% window tint. Love the ride. 18" lexus star rims.

Did you ever find the cause of your axial gap issue, or what it is?

nope. I had an appointment at my dealer on Friday, but the title had not arrived yet so I cancelled it. I had an issue getting the title sent to my house, and didn't want to get too much more monetarily involved. The title arrived yesterday. Now I leave today for a week, then again for a next Sunday for business. I shouldn't have an answer for a while.

I can relate to title delays. BTW, every time I read your screen name I think of a dog we used to have...

I will be back home this weekend and should take the car in next week to find out. If its the ECU unit, I have the TSB for that. I sincerely hope that if it's something serious, Lexus takes care of it. My car still has less than 30K on it, but a few months out of 'warranty'. Fingers crossed!

I forget, did you buy this at the Lexus dealer in Pittsburgh? I remember someone here was looking at that car.

No I did not. I called about that one the day it popped up on Autotrader, but couldn't get them to go below 31,500.00. HTat one is silber on black as well.
I waited, and got one with about a years worth of miles LESS, for less money. I did have to fly to Alabama to get it, while Pittsburgh is only about 3 houurs from me.

Bonus - my ride has the 3M clear front bra, and not a rick chip on it. I am proud of her, and missing her while on the road in my rental (Buick Enclave).

Was the one you bought at a used car dealer? I may remember it.

The one in Pittsburgh was originally from my area in southern Michigan.

I got it from a whole saler. She got it from Plaza Lexus in MO. She took delivery of the car and literally within 48 hours it was mine.

I think the Lexus dealer took a bath on it. A saleman there told me selling the car was 'a mistake'. They serviced it with the 30K serevice already, new brakes, etc. I was able to contact the original owner and talk with him for a while. Great guy.

So...
Got my car to the Lexus dealer, and after a week they said I need Lexus part 88210-50072

Not good. This is supposedly a 5K part.

FML.

I have put less than a 1000 miles on my car, most of which was the drive home when the sensor went off.
