Default Update

Mileage dropped to 22.6. From 23.6. Speed limit went up from 65 to 70 on hey 41at the same time plus driving more spirited. So 3-4 bucks more a tank for a car that's now not a tank. Handling is better and better, ride is just fine. I drive a lot this thing does not put me to sleep any longer. Mint bar!!! Glad the Mxv4 is history

Does it make sense with the softer rubber the tires handle better when temps get warmer? Or do tires break in, lately this thing is a super fun beast. Thx

Yes to both. Tires get better when the weather gets warmer, and they get better when they get broken in.

5k time to rotate. Tires are quiet smooth as my MXV4 but make the LS feel sporty. Much less nose dive and flatter cornering. Makes driving, cornering fun again to have these tires. Maybe its the combo of the sport suspension but this thing rips.

I'm glad you like the tires, but if you truly feel there is significantly less nose dive or flatter cornering because of your tires there's a little bit of a placebo effect going on here.

The tires will contribute to better grip, but nose dive and body lean/roll when cornering are a function of suspension, not tires. One brand or type of tire vs another is not going to change the way the suspension behaves.

If you do not take into account the effects of the stiffer sidewall you may be right. If you understand how the tire spends longer time recovering from flattening or mushing just the bulging of the sidewall will drop the front side more than a stiffer less deforming side wall. These tires rip
Having driven a couple hundred thousand miles on two LS's I see and feel the difference with my first set of high performance tires. If the grip is crisper it deforms less with a high perf sidewall

Thats a very small part of what constitutes body roll and nose dive when braking though.

FWIW, stickier tires on an otherwise unchanged car with stock suspension will have more body roll while cornering. This is more evident when running slicks, but it still translates over to running UHP tires compared to all seasons, its just not as dramatic.

I just picked up another LS430. It has 18" Pilot Super Sports on it. Got it from a friend of mine. As always, a great tire. Still has a soft ride.

So a budget "Q" rated or unrated snow tire will have no difference in body roll versus a Pilot Sport or other ultra high perf tire?

Or the pilot sport will have more body roll even, ok.

No...BODY roll is just that, rolling of the BODY of the vehicle. Doesn't have anything to do with the tires, it has to do with the suspension of the vehicle.

I am thinking with squishy tread blocks a thin soft sidewall the outside of the cornering tire is going to bulge and flatten and deform the opposite front tire is going to then be taller and more unweighted. Would this not cause the LS to be inclined in the front end toward the cornering tire? So whatever it is then the HP tire rolls more and the increased handling and steering and confident nature of the HP tire comes from where if it is diving more?

This article suffers from the same placebo effect. False understanding or realization. You come across with this "placebo" effect making me sound like some kind of idiot at least I am not alone.

I'm not trying to start a fight, but have you ever driven a car with grippy tires? Tires are a huge part of a cars suspension. If effects unsprung weight of a car and is the only point of contact with road. The same car with say all season tires will have less traction in a turn and the tires will either roll or break traction sooner and body will will not be as evident. The same car with UHP tires will stay planted and body roll will be more evident when no sway bar or spring/damping mods are done.
