Hey LS fam!

I'm new to the LS430, but not new to Lexus. Anyway, i picked up a 2004 LS430 with 185,000 miles.

The problem is that my front passenger window is hesitating when going up or down. It gets stuck, but when i wait a few minutes and then click the "auto up" or "auto down" button. It will usually work. So the question is: is the front passenger motor blown or going out? Or could it possibly a faulty window button switch?

For more information: the problem started immediately after i tried to roll the window down, while my girlfriend was trying to roll the window up, at the same time. Would that sudden reversal of the signal blow the motor, or ruin the switch?

try both the master side and affected side switch. if problem persists, i'm thinking you need a new window motor.

i'm not sure about your signal reversal problem, though.

I have a similar issue withe my driver side window. Sometimes when I roll it up in auto it stops close to the top then rolled down. Whiting few seconds and manually riling it up it inches it way up. Takes about couple of minutes.
Now if all is ok and I roll all windows up at the same time drivers window is the slowest. So I figured it the motor that is on its last leg.
I also believe the summer heat makes it worse.
As its summer and I hardly roll the window down I will take this in few months.

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't been able to find conclusive results on here..
Therefore, i'll probably end up switching the motor and hope that fixes the problem. I would think that the motor would go before the window switch, as the motor is under much more load/stress than a simple switch would ever be. Also, i'd hate to replace the switches just to find that the motor is still bad.

I don't think it's the switch. But I think it is relatively easy to open and clean.
I believe if you can check the resistance of the motor coile you can determine the health of the motor. Another thing may go wrong is the brashes have worn out.

Clean the switch first. It costs next to nothing but labor, then proceed to change the motor if all else failed.

. I agree. You have nothing to lose. Not sure of what is involved in removal of switch but if not difficult substituting one for another is another option.

Does this procedure apply to the LS430? It sounds generic.
