Smile How many 2005 LS430 UL with PCS were made?

I am a proud owner of one of these cars and understand that there were very few of these made. I have searched through the forum and believe that about 550 UL's were made in 2005 and about 100 were made in 2006.

Does anybody know how many UL's with PCS were made in those years? Does having PCS increase the desirability?

A secondary question -- can the spottiness of the ride be improved through a simple step such a calibration of an existing part or component?

Thanks to all that respond.

I don't believe the PCS option is exceedingly rare. PCS involves quite a few expensive electronic components so repairing it would be quite expensive. It incorporates some additional safety features as indicated by the name.

What "spottiness" are you referring to? Have you checked your tires, air shocks, LCA bushings.

BTW, I have an 05 UL with PCS.

Just from looking at several sources in my search (but mostly autotrader), I would estimate that about 1 in 5 UL cars had PCS.
Just out of curiosity, what was your source for the production numbers of ULs?

Most all UL cars after early/mid 2004 have PCS.
Ride spottiness means you have a problem with one or more of your air suspension corners. The ride is flawless.

ayoues - I don't think that most ULs had PCS.
First, PCS was not available at all until a few months into the MY04 production (I estimate Jan 04), so none of those cars had it..
Second, a brief look at any of the larger For Sale listings (such as AutoTrader) will show that most of the ULs offered do not have PCS. Even though the listings themselves are frequently in error, you can usually tell from the pictures if there is a plastic "shield" surrounding the Lexus "L" in the center of the grille, and most do not have it.
What was your source?

PCS seemed quite rare some years ago when I tried to find a 2005 or 2006 LS430 with PCS in an exterior color I could live with although I was mainly focusing on LS430's with the Custom Luxury/PCS package.

As a separate option or as part of an option package, the current retail price of PCS and adaptive radar cruise control seems to be running about $1,800 on Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Pricing is a little like back when air suspension was available separately at a similar price on the LS400 - inexpensive when ordered on a new car but quite expensive to repair as we found out when my wife barely bumped a Jeep's spare tire in stop and go traffic - $2000 for a new radar sensor.

The only way we could get PCS and adaptive cruise on my wife's Prius wagon was to buy the top model with all options including a $5,650 package. The only way we could get PCS and adaptive cruise on our Sienna van arriving next week was to buy the top model with all options including a $6,795 package.

Toyota/Lexus continues to offer PCS only on vehicles ordered with most available packages and options.

To all that responded to my original post;

I got the UL 05 and 06 production numbers from a previous forum query. The person that provided production numbers claimed he/she got the information from Lexus. The actual numbers were 560 and 106. I was in a hurry to post my question so I rounded the numbers. When I e-mailed Lexus Customer Support, I was informed that the information I was asking for was for internal use only and that they were not prepared to share it with me. I did find their response a little lackadaisical.

I have pushed back with another e-mail and will follow-up with a phone call later this week.

With respect to the "spottiness" of the ride -- my bad -- fat fingers! The ride is actually very smooth. I was hoping to find an economical way to make the ride a little more "SPORTY". potentially by tweaking some settings in the suspension system. Any thoughts?

I agree with the responses with respect to cost. Right after my extended warranty expired (7 years), I had to replace the rear shocks -- $1,700 a piece through the dealer. The problem occurred before the warranty expired but I reported it a couple of weeks after the warranty expired. Long story short - Lexus split the costs with me.

Would still like to get production information.

Cheers
