Default ECT Button Pushed into Dash...

First post, new member. This is my 2nd LS 430 (2002 60k miles, silver).

Hit the brakes and my water bottle hit the ECT / PWR / SNOW switch and pushed it into the dash. Any suggestions on how to get into that area of the dash? Or any tutorials out there that show how to get in there? I couldn't find it on LexLS.com but probably just me not know where to look. Once I get in there I'm guessing I'll super glue the part back onto the dash.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tim

Here's how to get in that area, very simple. You'll just have to push the button into place until it clicks.

Thanks for the very helpful response and link.

I noted that the link appears to be an LS400 rather than an LS430, but it gave me enough to start.

I started looking at the VSC / heat warmer panel (very bottom panel for the 430) and saw what I thought were clips on the right / left side in the middle. Carefully stuck a smallish regular screwdriver in one side and wiggled side-to-side while gently prying the panel towards me, and was able to get one side out. Once I figured out how the side clip looked I did the same thing on the other side and removed the panel (with wiring attached to the back). The side clip is just a flat compression clip.

Once I had the panel removed I could reach my fingers behind / under the PWR/ECT/SNOW switch and push it back in. "Click" and I was finished. Gave the switch a quick test to make sure it was properly seated, then pushed the bottom panel back in.

Thanks again for the quick response and pointing me in the right direction.

Kind regards.
Tim
