Default How to get a parts discount at your local dealer....

Wasn't sure if this would work but it does.

I went to my local dealer (Lexus of Richmond) and asked if they'd price match. They asked who's price and I told them Sewell.

They said sure so I showed them the Club Lexus price on a couple of items on my iPhone (make sure you have an account and are logged in!) and they matched the price.

For instance, floor mats...all four for my 430. Local dealer price: $164, Sewell price: $101......

They said they would rather keep my business local and will match any of Sewell's prices.

Of course I have to pay sales tax but I save shipping. So it comes down to your local tax rate vs how far you live from Sewell. And of course the convenience of driving to your local dealer. But once I established this arrangement with my parts guy I just call him and he checks Sewell's price and matches it. Then I only make one trip to pick up the parts....

Thought you folks might find this helpful.....

I've been doing the same thing for some time with my dealer. I was even able to get the same discount on repairing the front suspension on my 92 SC400 (which was very expensive). My service advisor works with me on these issues, a result of having a good relationship with my dealer.

My dealer told me no way they could match those prices as they were lower than the discount they give to their biggest volume collision repair dealers... so they don't get my parts business. I gave them a chance at least.

Lexus of South Atlanta is like that. At the counter you'll pay 30% more vs online. Other local dealers don't even come close and won't price match.

I've never tried it at mine. My dealer's prices were so much higher than the average Lexus dealer when I would get quotes on parts for my SC300 that I've only ordered touch up paint and a serpentine belt for the LS.

That's true. I didn't even know Tulsa had a Lexus dealership. I thought Eskridge was the only dealership because everyone gets their Lexus' at Sewell or Eskridge.

Those prices were so high that I almost sold my SC when I was a teenager. Back then I could work a whole month and still couldn't afford a set of headlights from the dealership.

I initiated discount pricing from my local Lexus dealer just like that several years ago - - will you match Sewell? The parts manager said "yes". He's been extremely helpful too diagnosing any issues, and will even give me a huge discount (35%) on parts when I have service done there. The dealer also offers a 10% off on service for loyal customers, so when I do need work that I can't DIY, I get great prices.

So far, I have been very pleased with my service advisor at my Lexus dealership. I told him about my accident back in Oct 2013 in which my previous '04 LS was totaled. He told me he was really sorry to hear about the lost of my '04 in which I only had it for 5 months before the accident. I purchased it from his dealership so he already knew the history of the car. He insisted that I ask for him when I set up all my service appointments from here on. So when I took my new '06 LS in for the 75,000 mile service he said he would provide me with a FREE complimentary 160 point inspection. Afterwards, he gave me a printout of all they checked and it passed with flying GREEN colors as they use a color-coded system there. GREEN = Go, YELLOW = Caution and RED = Urgent Repair.

After all that, he gave me another 10% of the bill. Later!
