New to me 2006 LS430
This is your grandmother here. My DH recently had emergency heart surgery, and while he was still slightly under the influence of anesthesia, stated that he would buy me another Lexus when we got home. I immediately took him up on the offer. I had a LS400 a while back and for some crazy reason traded it off for an SUV. I finally admitted to myself that I missed the Lexus and if I was going to have a car that didn't get stellar gas mileage, it was going to be something I really liked. So...my 2006 LS430 is not the basic model, nor UL. Somewhere in between with ML stereo and navigation. Beautiful moonlight pearl w/light colored interior. The vehicle has 64,000 miles on it. I am very happy and full of myself over my new Lexus.
We took a road trip last weekend and with me driving fairly conservatively, the car got 28mpg - this is with us noting the mileage, buying gas and doing the dividing etc - that is, not depending on what the vehicle's display said, so I am happy about that. By the way, the display agreed with our figures.
I really enjoy reading this forum because it provides lots of useful information, entertainment [cooled seats thread], and in spite of my grandmother-ness I am interested in what the younger set us up to. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
I have a key question which I will post separately.

Grandma made the right choice. Nothing else out there is as comfortable, smooth, quiet, and reliable for the money. Doesn't exist.
And someday I'm going to figure out a way to get a test ride in a Bentley or Rolls, just to compare...am betting the LS is just as smooth and quiet, and maybe more so? for far less $.

Great choice and good for you. Your gas mileage is on par with others. Impressive to get that from a V8, IMHO..
This forum is and can be extremely helpful... hope you find it that way also. Welcome back to the club and enjoy your new ride...

Thanks folks!
ToddMorr, you probably aren't old enough to remember, but there used to be a Rolls commercial that said If you "feel diffident about driving a Rolls-Royce you can buy a Bentley". Ha! The add says the loudest thing in a Rolls is the clock.
