Default 2002 LS 430 1st ls/2nd lexus

I've always wanted a Lexus, and I think I had a 93 sc400, but now I finally got the model of Lexus I saw and drove many years ago. Kind of embarrassed at how little info I used when purchasing my LS 430 though. Just something about how I ended up next to it; kind of like destiny. At least that's how I'm rationalizing it. The Sc400, I'd had, was nice, but it lacked power. I was younger, and thought I needed speed. I've had four Q45's, and somehow I was at a car lot trading my pleasant 2005 Avalon Limited for either another Q or another 2001 7 series. But, before I even grabbed the handle of a really nice 7 series, I saw my grey 2002 LS 430. The bimmer was near perfect, and having had a 2001 740il, I knew what to look for. Still, I chose my LS. These are some of its issues: mirrors, front door locks, trunk and hood struts, torn driver seat, cruise control, blown woofer, and over 136,000 miles. It also has, other than the torn driver seat, very nice black leather with a kind of off red wood interior and 18 inch custom rims and tires. I've never seen such a combination. It drove nice, the air was cool, and the price ($10,000) was okay. Autonation only gave me $400 above what that car lot offered me for my Avalon, but that's on me. I also rationalized that I'd find a forum for Lexus, on the level of Bimmer forums, and I have. Already, this forum has helped me with my mirrors, hood struts, and hopefully my door locks. I agree with walleye about the issue of buying a warranty. I'll just start a fund for future repairs. Anyway, thanks to all for the numerous posts you've posted, cause they really help.

Wow, you've owned quite an array of.vehicles
How does the LS compare to the others? I think you'll all your repairs here, except for the torn seat. Post some pics.

Nice color and good car. Seems a bit work for the miles, seat should not be torn like that. Door lock actuators are probably shot... you can just replace the motor in them cheaply and with a little work, or replace the whole actuator... you'll find info on this site for that.
Good luck and enjoy the ride. Won't ride like a Bimmer.... but should be comfortable.

Thanks for the replies; I've tried to upload photos, but not sure what I did wrong. I've had the 91, 97, and 2002 q45's. I didn't realize how much I liked the 2002 q45 until I'd traded it for the 2001 BMW 740il. But, like most cars, it had an issue or two: having the 18 '' wheels, the ride was rough and the tire inflation gauge was always signaling for more air. Also, the transmission had a lag in it, and I thought I'd need to replace it soon. I used both issues to rationalize my trading for the bimmer. My BMW was nice also, but it was known to leave you stranded. I really liked my SC400 Lexus, but I'm a 4 door type of person. My 2002 430 just seems like 'me.' I like a quiet smooth ride, and though it has horses under the hood, I rarely drive over 65 mph.
