What does "Technicolor" mean in a Lexus Service History?
Hi all! I haven't owned a Lexus before, but I'm looking to start with an LS430. I've been shopping online and lurking on the CL LS430 forum to try and learn about what to look for. It looks like there are many supportive and knowledgeable members on here and I would like to ask a question.
One tip I picked up here was that you could take the VIN and go to Lexus.com to view a vehicle's service history, at least at Lexus dealers. I was looking at a 2004 LS430 with around 40k miles and it looks pretty good. This is the only one I've found that had its timing belt service done at the recommended 105 month interval; it seems like a lot of people with lower mileage Lexii defer that. It doesn't appear to have gone in for any problems or unscheduled repairs lately. So, I take that to mean that the owner a) was pretty by-the-book when it came to maintenance and b) probably just wanted to get something newer and not unload something troublesome.
Anyway, one of the more recent entries for this vehicle was Repair # 0121526, Description: Technicolor. Any clue what that might mean? I'm guessing it was some sort of scratch or ding touch-up, but was curious if anyone actually knew what it was.
The only odd thing in the service history was that the car had its transmission and fuel pump replaced, as well as "tap and tighten sensors in exhaust" back in 2004 at 4700 miles. Beyond that, it had the steering shaft universal joint replacement per a TSB done in 2006, a "cooler circuit repair board" in January 2011, then a "goodwill replacement" of the A/C compressor and expansion valve in March 2011. Plus "technicolor" in May of this year. Based on the other LS430 histories I've looked at, this seems about typical, except for the transmission replacement. Any thoughts there would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Haven't seen that one before. Sounds like the car you are looking at was maintained by the book at Lexus. Could be a good one. If no one on the board knows for sure about technicolor I'd suggest calling that dealer service department . Tell them you are looking at a printout of services history and see a notation of Technicolor on one of their service records for a LS430. My guess is that it is some 3rd party scratch and dent service or product. Some dealers balk at sharing private history so its best to make the question as generic as possible - not referring to that specific car if possible, or tell them the car is in a used car lot at this point.

Well, the car is in Florida, far, far away from Hollywood and, alas, my name is Andy, not Joseph. I'll give my Lexus dealer a call on Monday and ask.. Thanks!
