LS430 rear subwoofer replaced
so after 3 weeks without a subwoofer, i finally installed an aftermarket Hertz 8 inch speaker, read other threads on how to do it, took me 1 hour to complete, the bass is sounding harder, probably gonna refoam the Mark Levinson speaker and sell it. i cantfigure out how to post pics i took all through the process. is there a period before they let you post pics?

Lexus Champion
The LS I just bought has a blown sub as well... Been reading up on which ones work and the best. Stressful finding the right one lol. Just want one that sounds good and isn't an arm and leg.

Can you post some details on the exact sub you replaced the ML with? I stopped by a local stereo shop and they were no help, said I had to use the factory ML sub and that aftermarket would not work......
Thanks!
Thanks!

If I needed a new sub I might try something like this -

or this

The dual voice coil models can be wired in series as an 8 ohm load.
The Kicker as listed as free air usable in specs, the other two drivers are not listed as free air. They would work fine because the trunk is essentially a big semi-sealed enclosure - so functions like a big ported box...unless someone wants to use it at high volume with the trunk lid open to impress all his neighbors...

i bought it on Ebay from Canada, was $70 with shipping included, local audio shop wanted $160 plus tax, Ebay has some good speakers for the LS430. recommend shopping around, i saved onspeaker and labor to replace.

Nice pictures and documentation of what you did. So far have you had any issues with the sound cutting in and out at high volumes? I am asking because of the 4 ohm sub your using with this set up.

I checked out Hertz Audio website. They have some similar 8 inch replacement subs with DVC. Does anyone know if this 4ohms +4ohms work better at not overloading the amp?
