Just a followup for anyone with the P0430 Cat. Syst. Efficiency code. I replaced both up and downstream sensors in bank two last Friday. Drove to Chicago and back (8 hours round trip) last weekend after replacing the sensors and the CEL has not returned.
As mentioned earlier, I probably could have gotten away with just replacing the down stream sensor. I was able to replace the O2 sensors by following the posting in the FAQ with little to no trouble.

Another followup for anyone experiencing this issue. I was still having intermittent check engine with the P0430 Cat. Syst. Efficiency code. As others have mentioned, there was an exhaust leak at the Y pipe just before the Bank 2 CAT. Local muffler shop removed the bad section and installed a new piece of pipe. $50 to fix the bad section of pipe or $1400 to replace the whole bank.

Not sure if it's the same... but I have found the quality of gas makes a difference in throwing these codes... I have an 01 4runner that started throwing the same Cat codes for bank 1 and 2... Auto shop told me I had to replace the cats... I switched from Racetrack/QT gas to Shell/Texaco.. the lights went off and have not come back on since... just stating my experience...

Now that it is fixed I did notice a ticking sound and puttering under the engine at idle but nothing while driving. I only noticed it while idling in the garage at my house before backing out.
