05 LS 135k - $17900 - Is this a fair price?
http://www.pleasantonauto.com/detail...d-9168455.html
Dealer: Lexus of Pleasanton
The carfax report shows it's been dealer maintained.

What is a fair price for this vehicle with this mileage in Northern California?
What are my risks buying a very high mileage car (even for an LS)?
Thank you for your input.
I am also looking at an 04 model at the same dealership with 126k miles - asking for $16900.

Honestly thats a little high. If you wait and be patient you can get cheaper. You can find an 04 ml with about 100-130k miles for 14k (after haggling). Dont give in to that Nada or kbb price. those are always overpriced otherwise they would be listing for that price lol. Good luck

I think $18K to start is not a bad start for negotiating. The price means it can only come down and if it doesn't... then no deal. I would say $16.9 would be a very good price for this vehicle. Looks to be modern luxury with smart access, so that alone is worth a little extra since not all LS came with SmartAccess.
If the combo is the right price and something you can afford, then go for it. We all like to play on the buyers side and say "NADA, KBB are on high side" but when it comes time to sell ourselves, what do we use to set a price? NADA or KBB.... ha ha. I think those are good starting points, but you should look around the sites autotrader, cars, etc. and see what the going rate for comparable vehicles is, and then you'll get a good idea.
Hey, with 135K on the dial, we're talking not even midlife for an LS. You'll get easily 135K more out of her without major issues and the engine/transmission will run forever. Also, it's not UL, so you don't have to worry about the major repair air suspension if that should happen to go.
Good luck searching and hope to hear good news that you found your baby and will join the forum as an owner.

It would be interesting to see how long they have been on the lot or will stay on the lot. Cars with 130k in my opinion do not have alot of buyers and at this price range you have to have the right buyer and hope. You can start to get almost new Altimas, Camrys, Malibu's in this range which are not bad cars, not big luxury cruisers but less chance of breaking and costly repairs prolly still under some warrantee. 12500-13000 I bet they get at auction or less. These guys at 16,900 are looking for you to talk em down 2 grand and still make out well.

If all of those recommended services are oil changes, I would say that this is an exceptionally well maintained car and the mileage is not a big deal.
Wait till Friday, Aug. 30. If they still have it, go in there with $100 bills and start out around $14k. Stop at around $15,900 max.

Thanks fellas! This thread is really informative.
I just saw another Lexus dealership in my area lower their price today on an 03 LS by $2K! ... just goes to show how much profit margin they put in on their original listing and even at this lowered price they would probably still profit a couple of thousand at least.
