so does anyone know the official acceleration time for our LS430's? We have 290 HP and 320 ft/lb of torque.

I have seen 5.9 and. 6.3 seconds on road tests, pretty good or a 4,000 pound car.

Cars used in obtaining performance figures are usually base models and carry just enough fuel to complete the test at hand in order to keep weight as low as possible. Even the weight of the test driver is a consideration - you won't find car manufacturers using "Chris Farley" size test drivers.
I remember back about 20 years ago when one of the car magazines tried to reproduce the manufacturer's performance figures for the early LS400 like the one I had. They actually came pretty close but only by using techniques an average owner would not know about and which no sane owner would dream of using if he wanted his car's drivetrain to last very long. Real world accelleration times are routinely more than 10% longer that those advertised by car manufacturers.

oh well, who wants to race with his LS430 anyway. We are not BMW drivers, are we? We just got back from Germany and BMW drivers are most of the time the ones with a heavy right foot.
And BTW, I only saw 2 Lexus IS200 and 1 Lexus 2GS in our 480 miles journey. We were the only Lexus LS430 on the Autobahn

Anything less than 15 seconds in the quarter mile ain't bad for a 4,000 pound luxury car. I know the "seat of the pants" feel of my car is pretty darn good. I'm happy.
