Default HOT SPOT light beam on 04 LS430 Headlight

Hi everyone,

I have a 04 LS430 and I have noticed a difference of the amount of light being projected from one of the headlights and I wanted to see what everyone thinks.

One beam of light from the RHS headlight has a 'super hot spot' of light which shines in the corner which is awesome and projects the light right out super wide to the side of the car. The LHS headlight beam doesn't do this and doesn't shine as much light out to the side.

I should mention that when I bought the car, the LHS headlight was replaced with a totally brand new original OEM one due to a minor colision and this is the headlight that is not shining as much light out side ways.

Things I have tried to fix the issue are as follows:
- I have tried adjusting the headlight up and down and side to side but no different.
- I have swapped HID bulbs around and I even tried 2 brand new Philips bulbs but no different.
- I have made sure the HID bulbs are correctly and snugly fitted but still no different.

I am wondering if the brand new OEM headlight just has a design fault in the chrome reflector area just under the projector? (this is where the hot spot of light is coming from on the other headlight)

Here's some pics so you can see what I mean -

Here is the RHS light - you can see a super hot spot line of light shining out which lights up the side of the road

Now here is the LHS light (brand new OEM) - No hot spot of light, doesn't shine as much light out sideways.

How is everyone else's lights?

I noticed that the cutoff was different between the two headlamps with the driver side cutoff being lower to prevent blinding oncoming traffic. It may also make sense that the driver side beam project wider at a lower position. From your location, am I correct in assuming your car is right hand drive?

Yes, I have a right hand drive vehicle.

As caddyowner mentioned that is so you don't blind oncoming drivers. The brighter coverage to the side lets you see the side of the road and any possible pedestrians.

I can understand that the beam of light shining foward is lower so as not to blind drivers, but its the amount of light shining side ways that I'm concerned with.

I'd like the left headlight to shine as much light sideways as the right hand side beam so I can see pedestrians on BOTH sides of the road.

Anyone else want to check their headlights and chime in?

Anyone else want to look at the pics I posted and see if their lights are the same?

If these headlights (LHD) are european models it's normal.
The beam is more higher on the right for lighting the road's side like sidewalks.

Nota : don't take care about my message. You have US models.
