How many hours/miles have you driven in a day?
Hi folks!
I'm a recent 430 owner and may need to make an 1,800 mile drive (NYC-DEN).
I was wondering how many hours I could expect to be able to drive in the car before fatiguing. I've done 8 hours of driving in a day in other less comfortable cars (Mitsubishi Galant, VW New Beetle) but I have an idea that I should be able to drive more than that in the 430 (with breaks of course, and a full night's sleep). I'm thinking that I might be able to make it in three full days of driving.
What's the most (in hours or miles) you've driven in your LS430 in a single day and how did you feel at the end of the drive?
Thanks!

I've driven 550+ mi, NY to VA in my LS, 9+ hours of highway driving was a breeze. No fatigue whatsoever, I'm sure I could've driven another 5-8 hours with no issues if I needed. Laser cruse control was the best feature of that trip, just set it and forget it, seats are very supportive and comfortable, very little noise inside the cabin even at triple digit speeds. You'll enjoy a long trip in your LS 430.

I just got back from driving from Florida to the Chicago IL. area In my 2002 LS430. I drove just under 1,000 miles in just under 15 hours straight through. I just stopped 3 times (every 300 miles or so) to stretch my legs and top off the tank. I left at 6:30 AM and got home at 9:15 PM. The ride was great and I felt great afterwards. Like I said in an earlier post in another thread, I don't know if I'd be able to sit in my lazy boy for 15 hours!

Well, the car won't fatigue but you will. I'll tell you my two trips thus far to Orlando from NJ (1009 miles oneway). We left 330 am and drive for 5 hours while family slept. Then 830 grabbed bfast for 1 hour and back on road until 12 and broke for another hour for meal. Then again on road all the way to Orlando with one more potty break and a fuel stop. So, from 330 am to 930 pm we are driving except for two meals and two quick breaks. This with 5 and 3 year old, then with 7, 5, and 2 year old.

I've driven 1,450 miles straight in my Miata. I frequently drive 900 miles from North Louisiana to Chicagoland. I have been doing this in a Mazda3, thus the reason I bought the LS430. If I drink a lot of coffee, have cool air and loud music, I can easily go 15 hours behind the wheel.

I have driven DFW to Chicago and DFW to Atlanta multiple times. Basically 15 hr drives in the LS mostly because we don't want to stop and stay in roadside motels/hotels which nowadays are always a horror show. I am 57 yo so 15 hrs in any car makes my butt and back hurt. I don't think the LS has particularly great seats. They are very adjustable which is good on long drives but padding is sorely lacking for my physique. People with more padding may like the seats just fine. And btw when I was in my 20-30's doing 15 hrs in a car like the LS would have been no problem.

One nice thing about the LS on the interstate is the aerodynamics are so good, that if you set the cruise, you can easily get 400 miles per tank, reducing down time. Also, you can drive 75mph or faster w/o fear of guzzling lots of fuel, thus saving more time. On flat ground between Phoenix and Tucson, I'd average 27-28mpg going 75-77mph. I've owned/own a toyota 4x4 truck, Honda CRV, Honda Prelude, LX470 and have to say that the LS430 gets the same fuel economy as the Hondas (26mpg), and it's a V8!

Agree - if there were no speed limits on some of the less busy interstates I'd have no problem running my LS at 100mph for several hours. COD on the car is outstanding so its pretty quiet and it don't get excessively floaty at 100mph...haven't had it much past that and only very briefly. A 100mph speeding ticket is a serious crap sandwich to be avoided if at all possible.

Maybe we can narrow down the question: What's the longest y'all have driven IN AN LS 430, without getting drowsy, either in terms of miles or hours?
