Unhappy Backup Camera Failed help

So recently my backup camera was starting to fail. It would go out now and then and the screen looked like static kind of like the old tube tvs when the signal would go in and out... Now it no longer works and is completely out.
Any ideas where to start and what the problem might be? I have an 04 and its an OEM camera.
Any help will be much appreciated!

Quick bump for this topic , as I too have a 04 ls430 and the camera failed ,a short time ago the lines started to flicker and rotate like the old TV with the vertical hold patten ,I was told by the dealer that it was a problem with the 2004 model and the camera needed to be swaped out at a cost of £550 ,although if the previous owner had done something about it they would have done it under the extended 7 year warranty .

It's either the camera or the ECU that controls the functionality of rear camera. Both are available used for much less $$, and both are easily installed DIY. But you'll have to identify the source of the problem, ECU or camera.
