I bought a warranty for ES, still going actually. The warranty paid for itself within 6 months.

both sideview mirrors(and motors)...$1100 repair at lexus!
new alternator
one door speaker

Recovering Lexus Addict
I didn't buy a warranty and needed to pay for repairs to a steering column motor and mirror switch in the two years I owned the car. I noticed an occasional transmission slip when backing up my steep driveway, but it never got the the point of needing repair. I suppose that if I would have kept the car another year and the transmission would have acted up, I would have wished for a warranty.
