Has anyone run a wire from the cigarette lighter to the back of the cell phone tray so the phone can be recharged when the key is in ACC or ON ?
How about identifying a wire that is always hot (even with the ignition OFF) ?
I am aware of the safety issues and would plan to use an inline fuse.
Is it a pain to take the center console apart? It was easy on the LS400.

I need an answer too.
I need power an MP3 player. I don't need power to stay on when car turns off.
I just hate see the adapter running from cigarette lighter outlet to the cell phone tray.

It would not be too hard to do - center console comes apart pretty easy as does the center stack. A lot of folks have elected to replace the OEM ash tray compartment with a Lexus OEM felt lined compartment that comes standard with a 12v port (replacing the cig lighter port). The OEM mod part is about $200 and can be ordered from Sewell. Installs in 15 min and is diy easy.
