Starter: OEM or aftermarket?
Happy holidays everyone!
My starter (2001 LS430) went South. The aftermarket starter is about $200 cheaper than the OEM. $200 isn't breaking me but if the aftermarket is as good as the OEM, why not save $200. Does anyone have any experience with the aftermarket starter?
By the way, the mechanic quoted $500 to replace the starter, is it fair price? LS430 does have bad design with starter!
Thanks in advance.

no starter problems, but i had problems with after market alternator on my GS300, my advise unless you are planning selling, get the oem, the alternator even though it had warranty for life, failed 4 times within 3 years, i had to change it myself, and it was a pain in the *** everytime, since this is a starter, it would be even more of a pain if it keeps failing.
