buying tires this weekend
sears has got a good deal going right now. There are two tires that i am looking at.
1. Goodyear ASSURANCE COMFORTRED TOURING
2. Michelin PRIMACY MXV4
The goodyears are $160. The Michelins are $175
The goodyears I can get $160 rebate if I put on my sears card
The Michelins I can get $70 rebate.
Both tires also qualify for the sears black Friday $100 reward card.
total tire cost..... ( excluding tax, mounting, ect )
goodyears = $380
michelins = $530.
difference is $150.
Not 100% sure on what tire to go with. There appears to be alot of bias towads the Michelins on this site.
Can anyone pursude me either way before tomorrow ?

Never had prior experience with the Primacy but I've had it on for the last 3K miles and been quite impressed - again though, no real comparison with past models..$530 seems like a heck of a deal as I paid 730 and that was easily the best deal around here - that included the $70 rebate card as well.
One last thing, I know that there used to be two different model numbers for the primacy - one supposedly is being discontinued so perhaps that reflects the great price?
Happy T-day everybody

I've had both the Michelin Primacy and the Goodyear Assurance Comfortred Touring. While the Michelins are excellent tires, the Goodyears are better in that they give a smoother, quieter ride.

Same here I have had both the Primacy H and Comfortred V. Car handles much better with the GY, similar quiet cushiony ride otherwise. Rated 1-2 on Tire Rack 225 55 17 size

The Sears website says the V rated MXV4's are 185 and they can be 10 bucks more at the store if you want to compare apples to apples. Website also mentions Falken, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Kumho Cooper not Michelin for the extra 100 bucks(you probably know better than I though) I would buy the Michelin V's and not the H's after having both speed ratings on my LS(if you wanted to go Michelins)

I just left sears (I got there at 5am). I took my Goodyear Assurance off and got the MXV4- for some reason they are not quiet. My Goodyears were TERRIBLE in the rain but were very quiet even with only 4/32's left on them. I'm quite disappointed. Prior to this morning's Michelin purchase, I was looking the the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity. They gave me a really good price of 701.00 out the door but got talked into the Michelins. I am going to take the MXV4's back.

I wanted to add also that my Goodyear had a manufacture date of 2008 and apparently they have made a lot of changes. I would go with the Comfortred. I'll be back there tomorrow getting them swapped out.

well......
A few stores inventory said they had the goodyears, but appearently there are none in the Denver metro area. i was at Sears at 5:00 AM also to find this out.
So I guess my choice is the Michelins. I going to get them installed right now

No experience with that particular GY tire, but my experience with past GY have been that they wear uneven and handling for whatever they were designed for were subpar from competitor. The Integrity on my RX stunk. The Aquatreds on the Accord were average at best on rain, and snow forget about it.
Since your comparison is GY or Michelin, I would say spend the extra money and go with the Primacy. I recently got a pair of 16" on my LS and they've handled well and been quiet.

Gy
I also have an RX. I have been running firestone destination LE for about 100,000 miles. I don't get the miles out of them, but the store has always stood by the warrentee. But I do like the tires anyways. I bought the RX with 40,000 mile and new GY Integrity, and they also sucked
