Agree the stock NAV isn't very good. DVD driven low resolution display that needs updates. I just shut the NAV display off and use my iPhone. Display stays dark unless I hit audio or climate. Hit either and display shows adjusts. Make the adjusts, hit audio or climate again and screen goes dark. Hopefully this reduces potential problems w/ head unit. Also isn't 04 the first year for BT?

I wish it was higher resolution too like from the 2008 RX where they updated the entire nav screen.

The map graphics look better to me and the nav functions work mostly as expected but there is at least one quirk: the "auto set" function for the digital clock above the dash seems to not work at all. I can set the clock to a very wrong time and it never seems to get corrected by the auto set function. On top of that, on its own the clock runs fast - with the old nav unit it was always spot on because the auto set function must have worked.

Does anyone know if the 86841-50090 unit supports the auto set feature? Is there a setup trick I need to know?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Agreed. I did that swap too. Updated from a 2006 Prius DVD player (trunk part). The maps look a little nicer than the old one, you get new menus and some minor features on the navi but, voice control no longer works, time drifts (a little fast, in a month it goes off by a min or 2), and if you change colors (as the 2004+ offers menu color changes), after shutting off the car it goes back, this only changes the NAVI part, not the radio part.

The nice thing about this swap, I picked up the Prius one for fairly cheap(ebay) with a 2013 disc inside it and put my LS430 one back up on ebay, and sold it for almost 3X what I paid for the Prius one... I actually made about $100 on the upgrade after fees

Would love if there was a way to add Blue-tooth but, with out rewiring the whole setup(factory not 3rd party), I am sure there is not and it would be a MAJOR deal to do, not just swapping out a trunk and head unit..

Still. although it works, the logic on it sucks. No real time traffic, or anything of the sort, you can get all that on a free phone app (waze), if you really wanted a BETTER NAVI, someone here did a Mirracast hack, so they could get their phone on the Navi screen, this would give you updated view with real time traffic but, the touch screen would not work with it....

a little trade off here...
