02 LS 430 High idle
Just changed spark plugs on my 02 LS430, 150 K miles and they were not that bad looking....
On the advice of many posters on this and other forum's, I also cleaned the throttle body, there was quite a bit of residue on the TB butterfly valve and opening at the top and bottom.
The car now idles a little under 2K RPM, my guess is there is more of an opening for air now that the gunk is gone.
How do you get the idle back to where is needs to be, will it happen automatically or do you have to access the computer to do it.
No electrical plugs were disconnected except for the coil packs.
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if these cars have an IAC, if so you might of got some gunk on it when you cleaned the TB. On my other car I take it out and clean it every once in awhile, I have not looked into it on the LS, never needed anything.

No, did not clean MAF, the can of cleaner said not to use it on Lexus cars, good thing I read the directions.
Not sure about the IAC.
No idle issue prior to cleaining the TB.
My contact at the Lexus dealer said it will automatically re adjust, removing all the gunk is letting the engine get more air therefor the high idle, he said to remove the - battery cable and let it sit for awhile then reconnect will speed up the auto readj.

I similarly have had a problem with my car idling high during cold starts and it started after cleaning my MAF sensor and throttle body. It revs up to around 1800rpm for a split second then drops to around 1200-1400rpm until warmed up. I also hear a strange grinding sound at the beginning of the startup when it revs near 1800 rpm. I do recall the bottom of the butterfly valve slightly open even before the cleaning.

disconnect the batttey to reset ecm
don't adjust the butterfly, i had exact same problem 2000rpm after TB and map clean, reset ecm by disconnecting battery for 5 min. the ecm learns the signals from map sensor and adjusts for build up. you cleaned the gunk from TB and now airflow signal is different than its learned baseline causing high rpm.
