I just purchased my 2004 lexus ls430 and my key is all jacked up. Was looking on eBay and saw a newer style uncut key and wanted to know would that work and if so how much would I spend on getting it programed.

I called Lexus that want 225 for key and 75 for programming bringing it to around 300 after taxes

try a local locksmith and price a new key and program.most likely you will save some cash.

i was in home depot the other day and they had a kiosk for making keys and one of the displays said "put your car key in here and if the light goes on, we can make your key"... so just out of curiousity i put my lexus key in and lo and behold, it lit up...

i didn't inquire about price or anything else since i didn't need an extra key, but you may want to visit your local home depot and see what they can do and let us all know how it goes...

you can buy a key from Sewell Lexus ($87 after tax) cut to your VIN and program yourself. it took about 3 days to get key. the entire step below must be done within 35 seconds. i programmed a key a got from Sewell about 2 weeks ago.

For 2002+ Toyota, Lexus
Add Duplicate Key
Requires one working Toyota/Lexus Master Key.
1. Make sure all doors and windows are closed.
2. Insert Master key into the ignition cylinder.
3. Cycle the ignition cylinder from On to OFF five times.
4. Open and close the “driver side� door 6 times.
5. Remove the Master Key and insert the new duplicates key.
6. TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON.
7. The new key will be registered after 60 seconds. The THEFT light (immobilizer located to left of steering wheel) on the dashboard will go out, indicating that programming has been completed.

if it doesn't work first time, you have to press on brake to reset and try again.

You left out "patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time for 30 seconds".

After 30 min of failed attempts I found on off means on/off not on /lock. you only turn it 1 click back from on to off not all the way back like you would to remove the key and it programmed 1st time Just my 2 cents good luck

not big on kidding. make sure windows are rolled up while doing. believe me it works. saved me $140 programming at plaza lexus in st louis.

The programmers and techs at Lexus must have been smoking the strong stuff when designing that diy key programming sequence.

anyone know where to get a key cut in the LA area? i have a blank transponder key already i purchased off the internet, but the lexus dealer won't cut it because i didn't buy it there, and a local locksmith wants anywhere from $40-$60 just to cut the metal, no programming. Just cutting it should seriously cost about $25, i'm not paying more than that just to get it cut without programming!

any success stories in LA on getting one cut?

Just purchased a new Eternity Key from Sewell Lexus in Dallas. Got tired of the crappy cases cracking after about a year. Got a blank from a locksmith for $10 and he cut it for $40. That lasted about 6 months. The eternity key at Sewell was $79.95 cut. Have a look at them at www.eternitykey.com. They won't break under my use. Pop in your module and away you go.
