I have a 2004 LS 430 with OEM 17" wheels. I am wondering if it is possible to put 16" wheels on for the winter with 16" winter tires? Will this alter the handling / suspension / speed readings, etc?

I believe others have done this with older 16" LS wheels with no issues. I remember seeing 16" wheels listed as a down-size option on one of the internet wheel sites. As long as you keep the same overall tire diameter / circumference, you won't have any speedo issues. The ride should be softer. I find the 17" size for winter tires to work well.

16" wheels with 225/60-16" tires were standard on the 2001 and 2002 LS430 and previously on the 1993-2000 LS400. Some people have downsized from 17" and 18" wheels and tires to 16" wheels and tires just to get a better ride. A side benefit is that 225/60-16" tires last substantial longer than 17" an 18" tires and usually cost quite a bit less.
