How to get the transmission pan off?
The transmission is leaking around the transmission pan for about a year now. My mechanic was busy so I decided to fix it myself. I got 4 qts of Toyota ATF T-IV transmission fluid from the dealer (wow, a whole lot cheaper than the MB transmission fluid!)
I drained the fluild, unbolted the 18 bolts around the transmission pan but was NOT able to take the pan off. It stuck on the car (from the original red paste). I've tried several hours but failed to get it off.
I screw the bolts back and fill the fluid but now it leaks a lot more! I need to do it again but have no idea how to pry the pan off.
Does anybody know how to? Is there a tool out there to get if off? Please help. Thanks!

I do believe you will need some force and something that flat to slow pry it out like razor blade or scraper. But before you go further, go buy some oil pan or transmission sealer (red or black paste) so you can reseal once it out.....check with the dealer, they should sell this stuff. Please also check if remove all the bolts around the transmission since above you state 18 but from reading it said 20.
Fluid type: ATF WS
Capacity: 4.3 liters (4.5 US qts, 3.8 lmp. qts)
Hope this help and good luck since this really mess job .

Thanks. I already got the red paste from the dealer. I just couldn't get the transmission pan off. I've tried to use the thin screw driver and tap it in around the edges but there were not a lot of room to access. I was wondering if there could be anything like the STRONG but THIN razor type with a short handle to cut it slowly and pry it off.
Perhaps someone has done it before could chime in for good tricks. Thanks all in advance.
