Default 05 LS 430 vs. 07 ES 350

Hello everyone I am trying help my wife choose the best model Lexus. I love the 04-05 LS with Nav. which are the price of the newer 07 ES350. However, for the same money I can have LS room and luxury with Nav etc. I know in three years she may want to upgrade again, then the LS would be mine. She must have Navi, ML and seat AC seats.

What do you think? What can info can I use to convience my wife that the older and few miles more LS is still the best buy over a 07-08 ES?

I know we all love Lexus, and many of you love LS, but let's be unbias. That way I can make the best discussion and still end up with the LS.

Added info: She will be driving this daily, average 50 miles and a backseat full of our three kids, 9 yrs 6 and 6.
Thanks,

Terrell

i am obviously biased towards the LS since i own one. the way i see it is a bottom of the line 07 or a top of the line 05 and this is all the reasoning i need. but digging further i would say that the LS has a lot longer pedigree and has obviously been refined a lot more.

The ES 350 is a great vehicle, too. If fuel usage is a concern, the ES will do substantially better than the LS...and on regular unleaded. Tough call, would have to get into the particulars of each vehicle before making the decision. I'm very pleased with my 2006 LS which, considering its size, is pretty fuel efficient and a pure joy to drive.

The LS is a Lexus to the core. The ES, as good as it is, is a glorified Camry. If front drive isn't a must, I would go with the LS.

No brainer for me.......ES all the way. Better mileage, and three kids in the back seat for three years. Are you sure you would want an LS after that abuse?

This is an easy choice mostly because of wife and 3 kids - go with safer. Frankly you really should consider getting a nice van or mid size 3 row SUV with 3 kids, but if you have to have a sedan I would go with the larger, heavier and safer LS over the ES.

I would consider something with 3 rows to keep peace among the kids. Maybe a Mazda5 if you want to stay small. Failing that, i'd go with the LS.

I suggest you and your wife drive a new ES and then take an LS for a drive. Spend enough time to really feel out the cars. That should be enough to convince her. If not, then just get her what she wants.

LS all the way based on my experience! I owe a LS and had a new ES as a loaner to drive for a few days.

LS all the way! The LS feels rock solid, isolates you from the loud world around you, and feels pretty special overall. The ES (I drove an 07 ES350) felt a bit more nimble through the corners (though I felt the LS had better weighted steering) but had higher wind noise and road noise. Worst part about the ES was how the car slammed over rough bumps accompanied by squeaks and rattles throughout the cabin (that crap drives me nuts). ES is a decent car, but the LS is a great car. Drive both, the LS is in whole other league of car.

LS all the way. It is Lexus' flagship car. If you want smaller, get a Camry and save the cash for newer car in 3 years.

As others have stated, let the missus drive both cars and truly compare them back to back (ease of drive, creature comforts, quietness, mileage, storage/passenger capacity, etc. and let her choose. Hopefully logic (and a love of v8 torque) will sway her to the LS side...

Does the 07 ES have a higher beltline / short windows compared to the LS 430? That lack of visibility out of the car may be a factor for a short female and small kids.
