My car has the Lexus Premium system - NOT the Levinson unit.

Has anyone added an aftermarket amplifier to this system to power ONLY the rear door speakers ? If you have, was there a big improvement ?

I will probably upgrade the speakers at the same time.

hey how are ya? yeah i own a 2001 lexus ls 430. i had the lexus premium system in it, system was okay nothing too special, then i had and itch to replace the whole system so my first step was to replace the head unit, so I went and bought a clarion double din and installed it myself. then i replaced all the door speakers with JL components. it took me few days to do the install but after all said and done. my car sounds amazing. oh and also i've got 10 inch jl audio w3 sub in a sealed box, powered by jl hd amp. take it easy.

Yeah, on my 2005 i had the premium package and i ran a JL 300/4 the sound difference was noticeable.

in my 2006, i have the levinson, and i did not change the amp and it sounds pretty good. I am running JL 12w6 subs with the JL 500/1 amp.

I have the ML system and running a IL 250/1 amp pushing two JL 10" w3. Sounds pretty good.

i have the same setup in my 05 UL and i hate how the bass sounds all trapped due to the UL and no air pass through. i want to either double up on the power and switch to a ported box and different brand or to just remove the cooler box all together for more air pass through.

and i think the rear speakers suck too on mine.

have you tried removing the factory sub to let the bass pass thru? Others have tried it and said it worked.

others don't have a UL then.


my factory sub is gone,, on the UL there is no air pass through from the trunk to the cabin, none...

i dnt think it a common thing to mess around with the music in this car,i will be doing my music soon but the doubledin kit is likt 175!!! so ima have to wait
