Default Driver side windshield wiper

I bought new windshield wiper blades and had no trouble replacing the passenger side. The driver's side is a different story.
I can't figure out how to get the old one off. Can anyone help me?

there is a clip/cover that has to be pulled up i believe before you can slip the blade off. It is on top of the blade, unlike the passenger side where the releases underneath.

If I'm understanding you right, I just turn the key on, then the wiper and then turn the key off when the wiper is about halfway thru it's stroke.

correct, I run the blade unit close to the left side of the car and turn key off,, gives better access,, have changed them on my 05 several times and they both have the same connection,,

I know the is for aerodynamic reasons but accessing the wipers with them retracted is next to impossible. Makes clearing off snow from the windshield after work much more difficult than need be. This is the main reason I will do as others have stated and run them in the top position and turn the key off if I know it's going to snow when I work. Luckilly I don't have to worry about that when I get home. Garage FTW
