I am wondering if i should take it to dealer or just do it myself. (accelerator position sensor).
Lets shoot some info. My 1999 Lexus gs300 goes into limp mode after i drive it for a couple minutes for example.... The check engine light, VSC and VSC off come on when the (limp mode) starts. then i press on the gas and it doesn't accelerate or rev untill i pust to the floor and even then, it only goes to 2000 r.p.m.s.( not fast) about 5 mph.

So is it the accelerator position sensor, Accellerator Pedal sensor, Throttle position sensor, o2 sensor or cracked intake hose?????

My guess would be a bad cat. I used to have an exhaust setup on my SC that didn't have any cats and it gave off the same smell. When I went back to a stock exhaust with a good cat, the smell went away.

My LS430 had a similar problem, but under light acceleration it would boggle some, almost as if the gas peddle kept being released.... = TPS

they called and said i have to wait till tomorrow. the dealership said that codes were showing something about a accelerator sensor. but wanted to do further testing. here is what the dealership said.
Pulled engine codes (P1120 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor) Performed Lexus diagnosis procedure. Found when warm, accelerator sensor goes open. Suggest to replace Lever Assy, Throttle Part Number 22060-46010. $336.76.

I just ordered it and its coming tomorrow. Hope its easy to install. I was looking for a (how too) on line. but couldn't find one. if anyone has instructions can you post it please. otherwise ill give it a shot tomorrow...
Ill update tomorrow. thanks for the help again

thanks. i got it fixed. When the throttle lever assy came in yesterday, it looked real easy to put in. attached by for screws and a wire. took about 45 mins to switch it but when the new part was on, i started her up and ooooooooo ya,,,,,, she ran great. all of the error codes went, limp mode was gone and after a test drive , i found no problems. thanks to everyone who helped me figure this out. and thanks luxor for the call.

I am currently having this problem!!! Ive been wondering what it was. It will happen randomly on and off. Ill throw the car into neutral then back into gear and everything will be ok. Ive been dreading how much this will cost. Does it get worse as time goes on? or cause any other problems if prolonged?

Coulda saved a few $$$ too on that sensor ($247.75 with CL membership). Sewell is great! My sway bar was originally $154 shipped, got it for $116 shipped.
