Default HELP! 2003 LS430 Rear Speaker grill removal

I believe my woofer is blown in the back and I wanted to try the quick fix before paying a few hundred bucks for a new one. Anyone know how to remove the rear speaker grill on the 2003 ls430, some say pry it up others say through the trunk and still others say remove the seats.

The some and other others are correct. Just pry open the Sub cover and then remove the seats, and then the rear deck can be lifted up and sub removed.
Search this forum, there's tons of threads regarding this issue.

Default rear speaker repair

Hey, i had the same problem and fixed with a tube of silicone glue. Simply remove the grill (pry off with a screw driver) and run a bead of silcone around the perimeter of the speaker. Worked perfectly and saved time and money.

What exactly did you hot glue? Was the speaker ripped? Could you visibly see this?

Mine is cracking/buzzing. Sounds like plastic vibrating. Just happened today.

Thanks, Scott

Mine started cracking/popping like plastic vibrating. Was your speaker visibly ripped or torn?

Thanks, Scott

Usually it pulls away or rips away from the outside. With the music playing I gently laid my finger around the edge to find out where the tear was. Used a hot glue gun all the way around and sounds good as new.

It will work for awhile, but understand it is not a permanent fix. The speaker needs to flex up and down and the rigitity of the glue hampers this movement especially at higher volumes. Try to go easy on pumping up the volume. I originally siliconed mine, but after awhile I decided to have it refoamed and purchased both front door speakers new on Ebay.

I plan on doing this tomorrow. Sub rattles like crazy even with the base turned all the way down. Really disappointing in such a premium car and a premium system.

EDIT: Just finished. Fixed! No more rattles and buzzing. I couldn't find the tear but in searching for it I managed to create a new one. So instead of trying to find the tear I just put a thick bead of hot glue all around the outer perimeter of the sub. I finally have my bass back! Well, I never had any since I bought the car like that less than a week ago.

Thanks for saving my hundreds of $$$ Club Lexus!
