I was hoping they would take away the "I agree" button like they had done with other models. I had a gs450h (gen 5) and when i upgraded to 9.1 they took it away. Anyway, small bummer. For my LS, my last nav disc read ver 4.2, so this was a needed update. Anyone else do theirs yet?

Does the update have text to speech capability, e.g. does it announce all street names?

sojah - 195 from ebay from the lexus of north miami i think it was, free shipping no tax.

garybow - that feature is only on Gen 6 nav hardware, so no. But on the Gen 6 cars I have driven, they didn't do a very good job with the spanish street names, lol. (I live in san diego). They should have a foreign language module in the next nav update for that, unless it's just a feature of the hardware.

I upgraded from 4.2 to 8.1 and it was a great upgrade. 10.1 is so fresh and new...congrats!

I think I'm on a really old version, either a 4.x or 5.x, what would change with the new version besides the maps? Is the software different too?

mine is still the original in my 05,, very few streets are not listed but the wife says I should treat myself to the upgrade,,

I bought my daughter a Garmin 1490t and very impressed with what all it offers and how easy it is to use,, really like the brilliance of the screen,, can see several things Lexus should have incorporated for a better interface and display,,

I have 4 GPS apps on my iPhone, and none of them do very good with spanish names. I attach to the steering wheel with velcro dots, and it works fine, plus unlike the Lexus screen, you can see it in sunlight. I like the Navigon app for its approach, and it costs only $7.99 for the western USA. MotionX is also nice, but you have to pay for the voice by the month.

I love my MotionX app, but it sent me up some weird way once with clients in the car that was kindof embarrassing (realtor). ahah. and I still haven't found a good way to mount my iPad while driving. I do like it's 3D mode tho. it's pretty.

my lex nav seems to forever send me the wrong way... i usually only use the nav when i don't know where i'm going obviously,, so on more than 1 occasion after driving through some weird out of the way routes or often through some less than desirable parts of town i have been shown much more convenient routes and then wonder why the hell lex nav would send me through on the other route in the first place... google maps on my g phone does it too so whatever,, i wish there was a most convenient route selection or a non hood route selection maybe that will be on the next version.

Sojah, I don't think ANY map updates will address the "logic" section of how it actually calculates the route. I'm pretty sure that would be in the hardware itself.

I installed 10.1 yesterday. Took me about 5 minutes. Can someone tell me where the netting is attached in the trunk?

I installed 10.1 (86271-33039 / 464210-1670 / PT219-GEN23-10) last Friday, making a safe backup of the disc and using the backup in the car.

I installed 7.1 (86271-33036 / 464210-0930 / PT219-GEN23-07) in July 2009, using a safe backup. I bought the car in January 2009 and it had the original 2.1 map disc (86271-33030 / 464210-0186).

My street was built in 2003 and the 7.1 disc did not have show my neighborhood at all. With 10.1, I can now see my neighborhood.

The only noticeable differences are updated streets, street names, and POIs.

Still rocking the original version on my 01 lol anyone know what version that is? 1.0? Do these upgrades help with graphics? Is there a firmware update for my screen?
