Does anyone know if there is a firmware update for the Mark Levinson audio system that will enable it to play MP3 disks? This is for a 2004 LS430.

I don't believe there is, if there were, I think it would be common knowledge by now. It would be great though! Welcome to CL.

I dont think a simple firmware update could ad such feature. MP3's are compressed files which need processing power to decompress. Its more of a hardware issue. I really wish Lexus added AUX ports back when they started as opposed to holding off till 2010 on some models.

no there isn't. MP3 compatibility wasn't added until Gen 5 hardware. It would require a hardware change.

this is why they still have the cassette player for your mp3 adapters

it's cheaper than a firmware upgrade
