Default 2004 Lexus LS 430 True MPG?

Hi Everyone;

About to be a proud owner of a clean 2004 LS 430. With that said, I would like to know the following:

1.) Putting the trip at zero. How miles can I expect to get on a full tank of gas?

2.) What Intervals are the expected majors services on a car like this?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome! Per my display, I average 24-25 MPG overall. However, I drive 90% freeway near the speed limit. Most folks average a bit over 20 MPG. Major service is every 30K miles - about $500 at the dealer. Super-major service is every 90K miles - about $1500 at the dealer.

my car's lifetime avg mpg has been apprx 22.5, mostly city suburb driving, but its driven by a stone geezer - slow and easy always. The car is great on gas if you take it easy. Front brakes on my cars typically last 50k.

Driving in an impatient rush, constant lead foot, tailgating and up people's butt in front of you all the time, then on the brakes constantly - that's an annoying and expensive BS driving game that I don't ever play. Too many self important douche bags driving like that in DFW area - its a shame....sorry for the rant.

When I'm driving normal and less than 3000RPM, my trip computer shows about 600 miles range - that's highway. I don't think 600 mi is possible but 550mi I would bet on.
City, well depends how you drive and how much traffic you encounter. But my best estimate with normal driving would be 270-300mi in the city.

I am pretty sure I have had 500 miles on a tank doing 70 mph highway. If you running easy and getting 25mpg x 20 gal you get 500. Leaves you with 2.2 gal reserve.

The items you're asking are not "standard" like say timing belts which are around 100K. MPG or miles/tank are so variable and is all based on how you drive and how much local to highway split you do. Also, brakes are depending again on how much local and how much highway you drive.

My mostly local, I get 390-400 per tank, while all highway I easily do 460 per tank. That's quite a big split if you ask me...

As for brakes, I do about 50/50 on my RX and I do my brakes about every 32K. I have a friend who has a Highlander (basically same SUV) and he's long distance highway driver and he went on his original brakes for 90K. If you're going 400 miles on the highway and not braking at all... much different than doing 400 miles of local commuting.

The LS is so aerodynamic, I would say the optimal figuring in the drag, weight, and engine is probably somewhere in 70's. I have not tried say doing 55 on a whole tank, then 60 on a while tank, then 65 on a whole tank, etc... but i usually cruise on highway doing about 70 and that's where I get my mpg numbers for highway.

The thing to do is set your cruise and try to not vary your speed too much. Keep the rpm level instead of zipping in and out of lanes, varying too much.

The LS430 just wants to cruise... it just wants to glide...
