I was having some difficulty finding the cause for my rear creaking coming from my rear seat/trunk area until I found this TSB. It is for the 2001 LS430 and diagnoses the problem I have exactly. My car exhibits a creaking noise coming from the rear seat/trunk area during movement of my car from a stationary position and also going over speed bumps at 15mph. It was at one time covered under warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles. My car now has 99,000 miles. It requires either removal of a service hole in the rear wheel well area and using a punch hard enough to contact the bulkhead and/or removal of rear seat and denting an area on the floor press line. How would you guys suggest I approach this repair through Lexus? I only want Lexus to do it as they issued this TSB NVH NV007-01 dated April 27, 2001. My main concern is to get a guarantee from Lexus that the repair will work. What should I expect to pay? Can I get them to do it for me for gratus? Can customer relations be able to tell if it was ever addressed? Thanks all. This creaking is driving me nuts!

I guess I'm the only lucky owner with a 2001 with this issue. I spoke with Lexus customer service today, and they told me I will need to bring it to Lexus for a "diagnosis" of the problem. I feel the "hot poker" already.

TSB done after warranty for a total of $54. Problem fixed. No more noise!
