Air Purifier
I was just switching out my air filter and in the manual it said something about an air purifier. I was wondering a couple things, one, is it standard, two, if not how can i tell if i have it, and three, could i put one on if i dont have one.

The purifier is a UV light located in the rear A/C in the UL. That air filter is accessible from the trunk. Just earlier today I was changing this filter as I thought maybe 60K miles would be the right time. There is no specified time to change this filter, just when the purifier or cooling starts to degrade. My filter was yellowed on the side facing the UV and somewhat hard. I thought that might be restricting the flow somewhat. The inlet side is white and actually was not dirty. The new filter is grey and somewhat hard on the side that is supposed to face the UV light.
Interestingly, the filter was installed upside down in the carrier. I asked the parts man if he also pulled parts for the service people. He said he did. However, he no idea that the part was assembled incorrectly. Makes me wonder if the service people are aware of this or do they just put the parts in.
This cars has so many complex features that it's amazing.

Well, I don't think it was just a "lamp"... it was filter in the rear AC unit that filtered the air further beyond the other filters. Extra if you will... and yes, it did have an extra light indicator....
