Mpg??! Ls430

My normal driving is 100% stop and go, short distance (< 20km), low average speed (maybe 50km/h) city driving = 16L/100km = 14.7mpg.
When in-city with low traffic and at higher average speed, I get 12L/100km = 19.6mpg
On a ~500km trip I did several months ago (Toronto to Ottawa) at night (cooler outside temperature), I averaged 8.9L/100km = 26.4mpg, average speed of 120km/h.
Do you think the car would be more fuel efficient if the adaptive feature of the cruise control was disabled, resulting in a fixed speed the whole time?

I do too. It starts with the pwr mode going on and trac control coming off in certain red light situations. But then when I fill up after having gotten less than 300 miles on 3/4 of my tank (in the city)... I try to remind myself not to do it as often

I would think that the adaptive cruise control would maximize MPG. Then again, when I'm approaching slower cars in my lane, I move to the passing lane before the adaptive cruise detects the car ahead and lowers my speed. I also suspend the cruise when I see a car pulling into my lane that isn't going faster than I am.

That stretch of road on the I-15 felt slightly downhill overall to me and I got great mileage also. I did the death valley at night and got 26 avg. which is my highest yet. What did you get on the way back??

my tank average is about 15mpg. mostly city driving, though its hardly driving. more like sitting in a parking lot on the freeway. the other hawaii drivers may understand. 01 with 19s, by the way.

Warm ups and idling you're doing 0 mpg... so that definitely eats the mpg numbers fast. The discussion of warm up or not has been discussed here frequent too. Modern engines don't need the whole warm up until "normal" operating temperature deal. Let the oil pressure build up for like 30 seconds or so, then off you go. Drive slow the first 2-3 miles until warm and then blast off.
It's good for the engine to warm up as quickly as possible to minimize this, and a lot of thought is put into conserving the heat of the engine and alloys used to speed the process up, but the LS engine seems to take a lot longer than some, and frequent short trips mean the car spends less time running with an optimally efficient a/f mixture.
