I know the black plastic cover over the transmission fill hole was placed there for a reason. My question is how many of you were able to get the top bolt back in? What does the cover do? Will leaving if off cause any kind o damage to my tranny or car?

Most likely, It just serves as an extra level of protection against the elements. No damage but I would put it back on just like keeping the lower engine covers on.

I'm sure they would. Lexus of South Atlanta only charges $99 too. They are an excellent dealer. Ask for Colby Willis if you end up heading over there.

Having my 3rd drain and refill done right now. I'm having them take a sample and I will be sending to BlackStone for analysis. I have a feeling it will be in good shape but it will be interesting to see what the lab says.

Here are a few pics from my drain and refill. This is the color of the fluid after 2 D&R's have been done. First was 105k, 2nd was about 112k, 3rd at 132k. This was taken before the 3rd refill was added today. I would say the transmission shifts slightly better. Just a tad smother upshifting and even more so downshifting. Particularly 2nd to 1st. Looking forward to the lab test results. Going to mail it off tomorrow.

The ATF looks new. Are you using WS or Maxlife?

WS from the dealer. All three changes done at the dealer. Because the additive package in WS fluid is designed specifically for our transmission I would be very leery about using any other type of fluid.

waiting with interest on results of lab. my 1st D&F at 96,500 and 2nd at 98,000. was going to do a third at100 but did not(current102,500). both done at dealer, who charges $11.08 per qt. and uses 4 qts. so 3 qts. and a capful per D&F. no difference after 1st but after the 2nd my transmission seems PERFECT, I have decided 2 was enough. wish I had thought about collecting samples. question? does transmission take a second to shift from reverse to drive? answer no.

The drive to reverse delay is electronic programming. Nothing can be done about this. When I see techs taking my car into the shop and NOT coming to a complete stop before shifting from drive to reverse it drives me crazy. I hate that. Makes we want to pull out my 9 and bust a cap...

Very interesting - thanks for posting the pictures. I'm going to be doing my first of two planned ATF drain and fill (at 73k miles) this week. Well this week if I can find the correct additional supports for the car so I can get under it and work safely. I'll post pics of the fluid in each drain.

My sample arrived on Monday. Blackstone says they are taking 4-5 business days to process so hopefully by Friday results will be in. Can't wait. Don't know really why it's exciting but it just is...

Lavrishevo- Have you had analysis done on the prior drains? I've long been curious how the WS fluid maintains with X miles on it. Analysis for tranny fluid is quite low and thankfully the transmissions in the 430 and 400 have been near bomb proof with simple maintenance. Anticipating your results.

No, never before. If I remember correctly the baseline is based off similar model(s) at 30k miles or so. I don't remember exactly how they do it.

I am thinking about doing a comparison between Mobile One extended performance, which I run, vs Penzoil Platinum for my oil. I hear from a lot of people the Penzoil is a better oil but in reality I doubt the difference is much.
