04 LS430 Trans jerk
Has anyone ever had a problem with a 2004 LS430 slamming into 1st gear from 2nd ? When I slow down to make a turn and the car goes into 1st gear there is a noticable jerk in the car. I was going to have the trans fluid changed but the dealer says they do not do it. The car has 67000 miles. Any help or suggestions ?

Your car may need the Tranny TSB done on it. Im not sure of the number, but there is a tranny firmware update for this issue. Your car is probably one of the ones that need it. Good luck!

I found the TSB when doing a search. The dealer didn't believe me until I gave him the TSB number. They told me I had to replicate the problem with them in the car or I would have to pay the 2 hours labor. either way I'm going tohave it done next Monday

I have not had the problem since it was flashed, but, my gas milage has gone down. I was averaging 22 mpg, now I am at 18.5 mpg. No difference in the way I drive or the fuel. Any Ideas ?

Dayum ethanol has been killing my MPG!

Also your air filter? Also fuel?..as others mentioned. (higher % of ethanol?) Do you get gas at the same place or no? Could be a combination of all the above?
Also, is this the same exact commute/drive as your other mpg calculations, nothing more nothing less?
Maybe you should buy the Vornado and report back to us? LOL

That is weird - looks like a 10% decrease in the mpg after the trans work was performed? I'd take it back to the dealer - show them the current tank average and ask that they check and redo the work.

Mine was flashed and it has been smooth sailing. Before the flash, not only did the car slam into first, but it seemed like when I was accelerating from a stand still, that first gear would feel particularly week, and then when then car would shift into second, the power would come on. It was very strange. Since the flash, power has been much more linear and first to second has been MUCH improved.
